It is with great regret that we announce the passing of Raymond Buckland, an elder of the craft who will be sorely missed. His importance to the growth of both Wicca and Paganism cannot be overstated as he introduced Wicca into America in 1964, ultimately leading to the massive growth in the community there and elsewhere. He went on to write around sixty books that have been translated into seventeen languages, further extending his influence around the world. He has been a spokesperson for the craft in America for over five decades. Our sympathy and best wishes go to his family and friends at this difficult time.

Blessings from everyone at Children of Artemis,
may his spirit find it’s way into the Summerlands

  • The Autumn Equinox Could Be Your Favorite Sabbat
For whatever reason "Mabon" just doesn't seem to capture the greater Pagan imagination the way Samhain does. It's not completely forgotten, but it doesn't get the attention it deserves, and that's a shame because I think the Autumn Equinox has the potential to be one of your favorite sabbats. Read more »

  • The 25 Most Important Witchcraft Books Ever Published
Despite originally being an initiatory tradition, Modern Witchcraft has sky-rocketed in popularity in large part due to books. • Paganism & Witchcraft Are Not Venn Diagrams
In the end Witchcraft, Wicca, and Paganism overlap (or don't) where we as individuals need them to. For some of us they might be concentric circles, for others city-states all walled off from each other each other. As for me, I'm not a big believer in walls, and I celebrate my Paganism when I'm in the great outdoors, practice my Witchcraft when I need a little spellwork done, and gather in my Wiccan circle when the coven meets. • You Can’t Change the Date of Halloween, But . . . .
The internet has a tendency to make mountains out of molehills, and such is the case with a recent petition to "change the date of Halloween" from October 31 to the last Saturday of October. This petition is pretty stupid and so is the over-reaction to it that I'm seeing online. Read more »
